Blackberry Limoncello Spritz: The Perfect Summer Cocktail Recipe

Have you ever tried limoncello? Do you have some that you aren’t sure what to do with? Or maybe, you’re looking for an alternative to the aperol spritz, or a new summer cocktail? Try out this Blackberry Limoncello Recipe! I was inspired when I saw this flavor of waterloo sparkling water at the grocery store, and thought the added blackberry would be a delicious twist on a classic limoncello spritz

Blackberry Limoncello Spritz Ingredients:

  • Prosecco, or any champagne / sparkling white

  • Limoncello

  • Blackberry lemonade flavor of waterloo

  • Lemon (to juice and for garnish)

  • Fresh or frozen blackberries

  • Optional for garnish - mint, rosemary, or basil

How to make a blackberry limoncello spritz

Optional: Muddle fresh mint

If you have fresh mint on hand and plan to incorporate in your limoncello spritz, I recommend muddling it first, with simple syrup, lemon juice, or even a little bit of water. This step is totally optional, but I love the addition of mint in this, and muddling really helps to release the flavor!

Fill your glass up with ice, and pour in prosecco or any champagne

The technical amount of champagne in a limoncello spritz is 3oz, but a trick I like to use is pouring champagne into an ice-filled glass until it fizzes all the way up to the top. This gives you the perfect amount, every time!

Add your blackberry lemonade flavored sparkling water

Again, the technical amount here is 1oz, but I always eyeball it! Just make sure to leave enough room for the limoncello and any garnishes. The blackberry lemonade flavor of sparkling water really makes this drink, but any seltzer or sparkling water with a similar flavor profile will work. You could try raspberry, berry, or even just a lemon flavor in place of it. You may just need to adjust the other ingredients to get a good balance of lemon and sweetness.

Add limoncello, to taste

You can add anywhere from 0.5 - 2oz of limoncello, just based on your taste. If you haven’t tried limoncello before, be sure to give it a try beforehand, because it can be a bit of an acquired taste. I normally add about a shot glass (1.5oz) of limoncello when I make this drink!

Squeeze in some fresh lemon juice (OPTIONAL)

Garnish with blackberries, and give it a good stir

Add a handful of fresh or frozen blackberries. I actually love using frozen because it helps keep your drink cold in the summer, and stays in tact a little bit longer than fresh. Give it a stir until it turns a light shade of purple, and garnish with lemon, mint, or any other herbs you have on hand like basil or rosemary!
